Police seek tips after Sunriver Utilities worker finds cardboard box with several deceased puppies inside
SUNRIVER, Ore. (KTVZ) – Sunriver Police turned to the public seeking information Tuesday after a Sunriver Utilities Co. worker found a cardboard box containing several deceased puppies.
Police were notified shortly before 8 a.m. by the employee who said they found the box near the gate at the Sunriver Utilities’ Cottonwood Road entry, police spokeswoman Katie Warren said.
A patrol sergeant responded and found the box with four to six very young deceased puppies of an unknown breed. Warren said it was difficult to discern the actual number of puppies, due to decomposition.
The deceased puppies were transported to the Humane Society of Central Oregon in Bend for proper disposal, Warren said.
The potential animal abuse case is under investigation, she said, noting that there are no security cameras in the area and no known suspects at this time.
Sunriver Police encouraged anyone with information to contact them. “You can remain anonymous or leave your name, but any assistance would be greatly appreciated, Warren said.
You can contact the investigation officer, Sergeant J. Beck, by calling the Deschutes County 911 non-emergency number, 541-693-6911, in reference to Sunriver Police Department Case Number 24-3715.
