Yum! Bend Market Builds World’s Largest Brownie

KTVZ

Imagine more than 400 pounds of delicious brownie, covered in chocolate frosting and cookie dough — now stop dreaming, because it was real and right here in Bend on Saturday.

The Albertson’s on Bend’s south end created the world’s largest brownie, beating out the record of 233 pounds for a whopping 400 pounds of gooey goodness.

All day, people oohed and aahed at the huge brownie, sampled some pieces and even bought some to take home.

But Saturday wasn’t all about the super brownie. All the proceeds are going towards a good cause from the leaders of Albertsons.

“We were thinking of something different that we could do, so we decided that it’s kind of something personally that I always wanted to do,” said Albertson’s Store Director Jackie Martini.

“So we decided to build the world’s largest brownie, and we checked out some records, and we thought, ‘Well, we’ll put it together,'” she said. “We picked a date, put up a volunteer list in the store and contacted the local charities, and they are here today helping, too.”

Eberhard’s Dairy donated the ice cream, Incredible Events helped set up the tents and everyone could enter to win prizes throughout the day.

Albertson’s goal is to raise around $5,000 for three local food banks and shelters including The Bethlehem Inn, The Giving Plate and Bend’s Community Center.

By the looks of it, they were well on their way to reaching their goal.
