Bend’s ‘Salmon Run’ Draws Hundreds of Participants

Runners started celebrating Cinco de Mayo early Saturday morning by racing for for a good cause.

Over 400 people gathered at Riverbend Park to take part in the 24th annual Salmon Run. over 400 people gathered in riverbend park to participate in the event.

The proceeds of the run help support the Environmental Center.

Many runners say they were happy it was such a beautiful day for such a great event.

“We’ very excited — it’s a beautiful day,” said 5K runner Tricia Maxson. “That’s why we live in Central Oregon, lot of people here, so it is going to be great fun.”

“Great energy,” added fellow runner Carol Massard.

At the finish line, runners could view their results as well as indulge in some fruit and yogurt from Whole Foods, and a cold glass of beer from 10 Barrel Brewing Company.
