Vandalized C.O. campaign signs spark frustration
As this election season heats up, many Central Oregonians are showing their support by planting or hanging signs in front of their homes or businesses. But some people said Tuesday they are shocked and angry that several signs have been vandalized.
Several Romney-Ryan signs have been covered with red spray paint or damaged along Highway 20 between Bend and Sisters.
One Bend resident, Richard Wright, said he has lived here for almost 30 years. He drives the route every day, and says he’s extremely disappointed.
“It’s not about who’s running, it’s about your conscience and respect for someone else’s beliefs and somebody else’s values,” Wright said. “I think it’s important we show a little tolerance on both sides and vote our conscience.”
Deschutes County sheriff’s dispatch has received a couple calls about the crimes. They ask that if anyone experiences vandalism, give them a call at (541) 693-6911.
