Pacific Source expands, adds 16 Bend jobs

KTVZ

On the heels of a successful Medicare enrollment period that resulted in more than 16,000 new customers throughout Oregon and Idaho, PacificSource Health Plans said Monday it has added 40 new positions — including 16 full-time positions in Bend — to help manage the new business.

The remaining 24 positions were added to the company’s Boise office to manage new Medicare business in Idaho.

“The new hires represent a more than 6 percent increase in PacificSource’s workforce, and are the direct result of the unprecedented growth we saw on the Medicare side of our business in 2012,” said Dan Stevens, senior vice president of government programs for PacificSource Health Plans.

“The creation of 40 new full-time family wage jobs, including 16 in Central Oregon alone, represents significant growth for PacificSource while providing an economic shot in the arm for the affected communities,” the company said.

In Bend, at Pacific Source’s offices on NE Conners Avenue, the 16 new positions include 11 operations positions such as claims, customer service, enrollment, and billing, and five health services positions including administrative, health services representatives, and member support.

A company spokesman said he believed most of the positions had been filled, though some were listed on the company’s Website. He said the company has about 160 Bend-based employees, so the additions represent an increase of about 10 percent.
