Redmond ‘Walk for Life’ helps moms, babies

The Pregnancy Resource Centers of Central Oregon have helped thousands of women unprepared for pregnancy.

And on Sunday , they held a walk to raise funds to continue their services.

The Walk for Life took place at American Legion Community Park in Redmond on Saturday morning.

Organizers hoped to raise between $5,000 to $10,000 to provide free service to mothers and their pre-born babies.

The center promotes alternatives to abortion include parenting and adoption.

“Women, often when they are unprepared for pregnancy, think they have no option but feel trapped to have an abortion,” Mike Reid, Pregnancy Resource Centers of Central Oregon director. “And it’s her choice for sure, but many women don’t realize there are other alternatives that she can do,”

“Sometimes it’s in the heat of the moment, that they feel like they have to make a decision, and we try to help them slow down,” Reid said.

The provides gives, among other things, free counseling, free pregnancy tests and free clothing.

There will be another walkathon on June 1stin Bend at Riverbend Park.
