Plea deal due in ex-Madras HS coach abuse case
As one former Madras High School coach accused of abuse pleaded not guilty Friday, word came that another, similar case is about to end in a plea agreement and sentencing next month.
Attorney Valerie Wright confirmed to NewsChannel 21 on Saturday that Michael Osborne, the former girls basketball and soccer coach arrested last November, “will be doing a change of plea.” She said he will make that formal and also be sentenced at a hearing expected to be held on Aug. 12.
Osborne, 44, had pleaded not guilty in December to 15 counts of second-degree sex abuse and one count of witness tampering. He had posted bail and been released the day after his Nov. 20 arrest. But he was arrested again about two weeks later after being accused of sending the alleged victim over a dozen text messages in just over an hour.
Osborne has since been held at the Jefferson County Jail. His current bail is listed as $250,000, held on sex abuse and contempt of court charges.
Meanwhile, Melissa Bowerman, 43, was arrested recently and, according to court documents, accused of sending nude photos of herself to a 17-year-old track team member and asking if he wanted to have sex with her.
Bowerman pleaded not guilty Friday to the charges of second-degree sex-abuse, second-degree online sexual corruption of a child, contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor and luring a minor. She is due back in court Aug. 8 for a pre-trial conference and is being held on $400,000 bail.
