Smith Rock trail, path improvements begin soon

Smith Rock State Park’s primary access trail to the park’s interior will be closed intermittently for improvements and repairs Oct 15th to Nov. 15th.

The park’s Biouac camping area pathway improvements and repairs begin Oct 15 th and run through Oct 31st.

Construction will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Camping and day use will remain open during construction. Use caution as heavy equipment will be working on trails and pathways.

TRAIL DETOURS: For canyon access, please choose one of the alternate routes:

TEMPORARY TRAIL, Steep; at picnic shelter ROPE-DE-DOPE Trail, Gradual; at campground HOMESTEAD Trail, Rocky; at northern parking lot

Emergency medical response times will increase due to restricted access.

The combined project costs are approximately $115,000 and will improve safety, drainage and include some native plant restoration.
