Socks sought to raise awareness for homeless

KTVZ

NeighborImpact needs your help to fill the Oregon Capitol with 20,000 socks this Wednesday . The campaign is an effort by the Oregon Housing Alliance to raise awareness for the 20,000 children and others that were homeless at one time or another over the past 12 months.

Central Oregon’s portion of that effort is 1,360 socks. At this point, NeighborImpact is still several hundred short of our goal. We need people to buy new socks and drop them off by Tuesday at 4:30 pm. There are three locations where socks can be dropped off:

Bend Fred Meyer

NeighborImpact Bend office – Empire Business Park

20310 Empire Ave, #A100

NeighborImpact Redmond Office

2303 SW 1st Street

Once the socks make their way to the Capitol, they will then be donated out to families in need by nonprofits across Oregon.

NeighborImpact is doing its part to help out with the housing affordability issue in Central Oregon. In 2014, the agency provided housing services to 201 households, helping out 225 adults and 426 children who needed shelter.
