La Pine Hwy 97 road project to prompt delays, detour
Motorists can expect congestion and short delays Wednesday night at the intersection of US 97 and 1st Street/Reed Road in La Pine as crews will be restriping the intersection to facilitate construction. Striping should begin early evening. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.
On Monday, the westbound lane on Reed Road between US 97 and the driveway entrance to the Shell Gas Station, McDonald’s, Subway and Best Western Newberry Station, will be closed for two to three weeks.
Eastbound traffic on Reed Road will not be affected. Westbound traffic on Reed Road will still have access to the driveway entrance for the businesses.
However, motorists wanting to access US 97 or 1st Street will be detoured to Hinkle Way to William Foss Road to US 97. This detour is necessary in order to construct turn lanes and islands at Reed Road and US 97.
