Wife of Redmond man arrested in homicide case is new Bend PD officer
The wife of Edwin Lara, arrested in the disappearance of apparent homicide victim Kaylee Sawyer, is a new Bend police officer who notified authorities of his “potential involvement” as soon as she learned of it on Monday, police said.
Isabel Ponce-Lara, a recently hired Bend police officer, reported to Redmond police “her husband’s potential involvement” in Sawyer’s disappearance late Monday morning, said Lt. Clint Burleigh.
“Ponce-Lara made this report immediately upon learning this information,” Burleigh said.
Ponce-Lara is in field training and “is not suspected to be involved in the disappearance of Kaylee Sawyer,” Burleigh said, adding that she “has been cooperative throughout the investigation.”
