EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A Lane County judge has issued an arrest warrant for an 18-year-old exchange student accused of statutory rape.

The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/qTFuXv ) the teenager from South Korea attended Marist High School, a private, Catholic school in Eugene. A school spokesman said Tuesday the student was expelled last month after officials learned of the criminal case.

Court documents show the girl is 14 and it was her mother who went to police. Deputy Tim Ware wrote in a probable cause affidavit that the 18-year-old acknowledged having sex with the girl. Ware added that the teen told him he loves the girl and plans to marry her.

The student has been charged with third-degree rape.
