Burgess-Day roads intersection to get improvements

KTVZ

Work begins next Tuesday on the Burgess Road / Day Road intersection improvement project in La Pine, including left-turn lanes for all four legs of the intersection, Deschutes County officials said Wednesday.

The project also involves realigning Day Road and Pine Forest Drive at the intersection so that the roads are no longer offset from each other.

The $604,000 project will be constructed by the county’s contractor, Alex Hodge Construction Inc. of Bend.

The first stage of the project will include widening work on Burgess Road and is expected to take about two weeks.

The second stage of the project will include realignment and widening work on Pine Forest Drive and is anticipated to last about a week. Pine Forest Drive between Burgess Road and Elderberry Lane will be closed during this stage, and a detour route will be provided for Pine Forest Drive traffic.

The third stage of the project will include realignment and widening work on Day Road and is also expected to take about a week. Day Road between Burgess Road and Jacobsen Road will be closed during this stage, and a detour route will be provided.

The final stage of the project will include final paving on Burgess Road and is expected to last about a week.

The project is anticipated to be completed by mid-October.

During the project, motorists on Burgess Road, Day Road, and Pine Forest Drive should anticipate delays and are encouraged to use caution, observe traffic control devices and slow down when traveling through the work zone and detour routes. Detour routes will be clearly marked.
