Redmond crews douse smoky detached garage/apt. fire

An Oregon State Police trooper discovered and reported a fire in a northwest Redmond detached garage and apartment that caused about $10,000 damage late Monday afternoon.

Redmond Fire Marshal Traci Cooper said the fire was reported around 4:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Northwest 12th Street, near Quince Avenue.

Crews arrived to find fire and smoke coming from the back of the one-story structure, apparently in the garage area, Cooper said.

The first units attacked the fire with hand lines and stopped its fowrard progress, she said. Others helped salvage property in the apartment area.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investiation. Losses to the structure and contents were estimated at $10,000.
