DCSO reports results of Sisters-Camp Sherman alert test
On Saturday., June 29, at 10 a.m., the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District and Deschutes County 911 conducted an emergency notification exercise.
The test message was sent to 1,062 recipients who had signed up with Deschutes Alerts and lived within the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District Boundary. Over 54% of those who received the message confirmed they received it. Since the test, 61 additional people signed up within the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District.
We encourage all residents of Deschutes County to sign up for Deschutes Alerts or go to their existing profile to ensure their contact information if current and accurate. When you do receive an alert, we ask you to confirm receipt of the message when prompted. In most cases, this is as easy as clicking a link in an email or texting “yes” to a test message. This helps us know the message is being received.
Deschutes Alerts is utilized to provide you with critical information quickly in a variety of emergency situations, such as dangerous law enforcement incidents, missing persons and evacuations. This system replaced an older system with additional features, more ways to receive critical information and a more user-friendly interface.
