La PINE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A serious-injury vehicle-pedestrian crash Friday evening closed U.S. Highway 97 at Burgess Road just north of La Pine for more than two hours, authorities said.

ODOT issued a travel alert around 6:30 p.m., advising motorists to expect extended delays in the area of milepost 167.

Oregon State Police said troopers reports of a man walking in the highway's travel lane. Just before they arrived, the pedestrian was struck by a commercial motor vehicle. He was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

An update shortly before 9 p.m. indicated the road had reopened and the crash was causing "minimal delay to traffic. Prepare to slow or more over for worker safety."
