CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Russell Wilson threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns and Chris Carson ran for 133 yards and two scores and the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Carolina Panthers 30-24 to clinch a playoff spot. The Seahawks took the NFC West lead in a tiebreaker with San Francisco. It’s Seattle’s seventh time in the playoffs in the last eight seasons. It was the 100th regular season win for Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.  Seattle scored on its first three possessions as Wilson completed 8 of 10 passes for 175 yards with 19-yard touchdown passes to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett for a perfect 153.8 QB rating.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Panthers safety Tre Boston refuses to believe Christian McCaffrey’s incredible statistical season is all for naught. Although the Panthers won’t make the playoffs this season Boston thinks McCaffrey’s big season will help Carolina land some top free agents in the offseason. He said players will want to come to Carolina to play with McCaffrey. McCaffrey became the first NFL player this season to tally 2,000 yards from scrimmage. However Carolina lost its sixth straight game 30-24 to the Seahawks. McCaffrey leads the league in total yards and touchdowns. 

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — CJ Elleby scored 20 points and Jeff Pollard added 16 to lead Washington State to a 70-56 victory over UC Riverside. Washington State led the game almost the entire way, forced 23 turnovers for 24 points to help get the Cougars to a win, despite losing the rebounding battle 33-31 and the battle in the paint 30-28.
