BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- RootedHomes has announced the launch of its Rooted at Simpson housing lottery, offering a unique opportunity for qualified homebuyers to secure a home on Bend’s northwest side. The lottery opened Monday and will remain open until midnight on August 28th.

"We carefully chose the spot for our Rooted at Simpson community to ensure that everyone, regardless of income, has access to top-notch schools, beautiful parks and walkable neighborhoods. It was important to us to prioritize equality and opportunity," said Jackie Keogh, executive director of RootedHomes.

There will be 29 three-bedroom homes at a price of $280,000 and 11 two-bedroom homes for $240,000.

Here's the rest of the announcement:

Rooted at Simpson features 40 single-family, net zero homes, including eleven two-bedroom and twenty-nine three-bedroom residences. All are equipped with rooftop solar, passive energy-saving features, and appliances such as washers and dryers.

Tess Spellacy, RootedHomes' Homeownership Program Manager, highlighted the housing challenges many Central Oregon residents face and emphasized the life-changing potential of owning a home on Bend’s west side and building generational wealth.

The homes are scheduled to be completed in phases from spring through summer 2025, and homeowners will receive an electric bike upon closing. The homes are competitively priced, and financial assistance and a volunteer work-hour program are available for eligible homebuyers.

Interested applicants can apply online on the RootedHomes website or pick up paper applications at designated locations. RootedHomes looks forward to welcoming new homeowners to its latest community in Bend and is also expanding its presence to Redmond and Sisters and eventually throughout Central Oregon.
