‘Locked in a race’: Gov. Brown says all over 16 eligible for vaccines April 19

SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) — Gov. Kate Brown announced Tuesday that all Oregonians over the age of 16 will be eligible to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, April 19.

The governor issued the following statement:

“We are locked in a race between vaccine distribution and the rapid spread of COVID-19 variants. Today, Oregon will pass the threshold of 2 million vaccine doses administered. And yet, in communities across Oregon, COVID-19 is spreading at concerning rates. We must move as quickly as possible to get more shots in arms. Beginning April 19, all Oregonians over the age of 16 will be eligible to receive a vaccine.

“However, whether before April 19 or after, it’s critical that we continue to focus on equity in our vaccine distribution efforts. Oregon’s Black, Indigenous, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and communities of color have been disproportionately hard-hit by this disease. We must reach Oregonians where they are, including those who may not have easy access to health care or the ability to take time off from work.

“Over the next two weeks, we will dedicate all available resources to ensure Oregon’s frontline workers and people with underlying conditions have access to vaccines––two groups in which Oregonians from communities of color are predominantly represented.

“My office will work closely with the White House to ensure Oregon receives our fair share of federal vaccine supplies, so we can continue with a fast, fair, and equitable vaccine distribution process.”

Later Tuesday, the Governor’s Office and the Oregon Health Authority will announce county risk level movements, based on the continued spread of COVID-19 in Oregon communities.

  1. And then you have to interject race into it just to keep the race baiters agitated. Real question – what does race have to with anything with this or any other virus? Or are you suggesting that the virus itself is racist?

        1. The United States doesn’t exactly have the best track record when it comes to medicine and race. So it’s something to watch for. Let’s make sure everyone has equal access and we’ll be fine.

    1. The group currently in power in this country isn’t very good at equations that involve more than two or three factors. Generally the group’s hardest hit are just poor. Being poor increases your exposure to the virus. It also keeps you from getting to where you can get vaccinated. So really the governor should have started with essential workers and many of them are poor and minority.

  2. These experimental gene therapy drugs do nothing against a fake virus. Only a fool would allow themselves to be jabbed with these population control agenda driven concoctions.

  3. Chinese doctor on CNN the other night said there is a very small window to get everyone vaccinated because states are starting to open up and they are realizing, covid is not getting worse so why would anyone inject themselves with this poison? They know the jig is up and between the lying corrupt media and bureaucrat health officials, we were lied to.

    1. I’ve yet to see one of you “It’s a hoax!” types tell us exactly who got all the doctors, nurses, virologists, epidemiologists, pathologists and undertakers not to mention foreign governments, NGOs, militaries, etc., etc., etc. to play into this big lie. So please, enlighten us with precisely who is behind the most complete international hoax the world has ever seen. No? How about just one country…say Brazil. Explain Brazil to us.

  4. Who here thinks the lockdowns will end with progressives in charge?

To any Latinos here. How many of you actually call yourselves “latinx?”.
