(Update: Missing Wisconsin man found; was lost in woods for a week)

WARM SPRINGS, Ore. (KTVZ) – A missing Wisconsin man whose SUV was located at a campground on the west side of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation was found by a resident Wednesday, about a week after he got lost on a hike, police said.

Edward Allen Bock, 39, of Madison, Wisconsin, “reportedly wanted to hike to the top of Olallie Butte, and night came on faster than expected,” Lt. Ron Gregory said.

“He spent the first night in a crevasse on the side of Olallie Butte and got turned around walking back,” the lieutenant said. “He finally came to a stream and followed it out.”

A resident found him sitting beside the B-140 Road and brought him to Warm Springs Fire and Safety, from where he was transported to St. Charles-Madras.

“By all accounts, he’s in pretty decent shape, considering spending a week in the woods," Gregory said.

Police on Tuesday had sought the public’s help in finding Bock.

Around 8 p.m. last Thursday night, police found his silver 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport with Wisconsin license plate 564YYR at the Trout Lake Campground, Lt. Ron Gregory said. It was unlocked and the doors were open, but the SUV appeared to be abandoned.

After a brief search, tribal police found a wallet and ID in the car and determined it was associated with Bock, Gregory said.

Bock’s family was contacted and expressed concern for his well-being, saying he had not been in contact with his family for several days, the lieutenant said.
