BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Three months after a trespassing dispute led to two gunshots in the Romaine Village area of southwest Bend, police and the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team arrested a 29-year-old suspect at his apartment, sizing several guns and ammunition.

Officers and CERT members served a search warrant and arrested Lawrence Branden Rodriguez in the Sept. 1 incident, Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller said.

Initial arrest charges included felon in possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of firearms, first-degree harassment and second-degree menacing.

Rodriguez was formally charged Friday with felon in possession of a firearm.

Late the night of Sept. 1, police responded to a reported weapons offense near the intersection of Romaine Village way and Ridge Drive.

The victim said he was driving a golf cart away from his business when he saw a man and woman on a nearby property, Miller said. According to the victim, he pointed a flashlight in their direction and told them to leave the property.

A dispute about trespassing ensued, and as the victim drove away, the man fired two shots. Miller said two 9mm casings were found at the scene.

The incident brought a large police presence to investigate, and no suspect was immediately identified. Police had asked anyone with information to contact them.
