Deschutes County Clerk’s Office invites public to certification test for vote tally system

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Members of the public are invited to observe as the Deschutes County Clerk’s Office conducts the public certification test for the vote tally system prior to the May 21 Primary Election.

When:  Tuesday, May 7 at 9 a.m.

Where: Deschutes Services Building in Bend

  1300 NW Wall St., second floor

What:  Pre-marked ballots will be scanned into the ballot tally system to validate that each position on every ballot type tabulates as expected.

Deschutes County Elections ensures the security and integrity of the vote-by-mail process by conducting a thorough logic and accuracy test before and after every election. The ballot counting system is located in a secure, isolated room and is not connected to the internet.
