Lake Billy Chinook boaters hold rally on the water in support of President Trump
CULVER, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Dozens of boats and hundreds of boaters took part in a rally in support of President Trump Saturday on the waters of Lake Billy Chinook.
Participants said some 75 boats, many with American flags and campaign signs, and about 500 boaters came together for the waterborne rally, which began at the Crooked River Bridge and cruised the lake, ending with a turnaround at Three Rivers Marina.
“It was fabulous, and I felt honored to take part,” said Guinevere Johnson, a Bend resident and a National Guard veteran.
Boaters sounded their horns, waved and smiled during the parade of boats honoring the president "and looking forward to four more years of strong leadership." participant Neil Ripsch said.
Ripsch said Saturday's event "was not oraganized, other than word of mouth among a few boaters -- a friend of a friend kind of thing, celebrating Labor Day and President Trump."
Another pro-Trump rally drew a large crowd along Highway 97 on Bend's north end late Friday afternoon, with participants waving flags and holding signs, the latest of several similar roadside events in recent weeks.
