    1. Lets hope its soon too, we need to stop subsisdizing bad business models with tax money, too bad they couldnt work with warm springs’ new truck stop and we now have 2 new ones competing with each other and all the other gas stations in madras too… how many gas stations does madras need anyways

      1. There’s a big difference between a gas station and a truck stop, and they need
        more of them.
There used to be a lot of truck stops of different sizes everywhere, but in the
80’s they started closing a lot of them. At the time it wasn’t a big crisis because
there were a lot less trucks on the road, but in the late 80’s and early 90’s
the number of trucks on the road started increasing at a very rapid rate, and the
number has continued to increase, but there have been very few new truck stops built to replace the ones that were torn down…

There is an incredible shortage of places for trucks to park. It used to be that truck drivers could park in a lot of different places, but cities and states have increased
the restrictions on where they can park now… It also used to be that you could pull into a truck stop late at night and find a parking spot but those days have been gone for a long time. Now if you get to a truck stop much later than 4 or 5p.m, you probably won’t find a place to park…

This makes a job that is already difficult even more difficult, and on top of that,
drivers have to deal with the ever increasing over-regulation of the trucking industry.
It’s no wonder there is such a tremendous driver shortage…
I started legally driving truck on my 18th birthday in 1979, and I retired in 2015.
It was a great job until the over-regulation started…

    1. For some reason that made me think about the old Tom Tom truck stop on the north end
of town. Their parking lot was always busier than the Wally Mart on food stamp day…
Maybe you can get a grand opening discount…
