WASHINGTON (KTVZ) --  Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley announced Monday that he will hold a live forum for all Oregonians, live on Facebook and YouTube, after President Trump’s joint address to Congress Tuesday evening.

Merkley said in a news release that is attending the address to send a clear message to Trump that he fiercely opposes the disastrous actions endangering funding for critical programs around the state, harming our economy and workers, and threatening Oregon values.

“Trump and his sidekick Elon Musk are waging a full-on administrative authoritarian takeover of our country. Trump thinks this week’s joint address to Congress is a pulpit to spout destruction and hate toward Americans. I won’t accept it as normal, and I won’t let Trump skate by without opposition,” said Merkley. “Join me after the address to discuss how we move forward together to reinstate government of, by, and for the people!”

Merkley’s virtual event is open to all Oregonians and members of the press on Tuesday, March 4, following the President’s address. While the exact start time depends on the length of the speech, Merkley’s event is expected to begin around 7:45 p.m. PT. The virtual forum can be watched LIVE on Senator Merkley’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Those interested in asking a question during the livestream can use this form to submit questions
