‘Mardi Gras for a Mission’ at On Tap

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The "On Tap" food lot in Bend is hosting "Mardi Gras for a Mission" tonight to celebrate a local cancer patient completing chemotherapy. The fundraiser is held on Fat Tuesday and will also raise money for Saint Charles Integrated Therapies.

Fat Tuesday marks the final day of feasting and celebration before the beginning of Lent. While Mardi Gras is not widely celebrated in Oregon, the event provides a local opportunity to observe the holiday while supporting a good cause.

Katie Ness serves as the manager of On Tap. She explained that the food lot prioritizes hosting events that provide support to local residents.

"We always try to support anyone in our community," Ness said. "That's what we love about On Tap is that they are very community oriented."

The celebration features live music and specialized menu items. Multiple vendors at the lot have prepared traditional holiday foods for the evening, including King Cake.

Curb-BQ is serving Cajun red beans and rice with shrimp. The Bleu Rooster is offering shrimp and grits along with po'boy sandwiches.

Organizers have placed QR codes throughout the venue for guests to scan. These codes allow attendees to donate directly to the fund for Saint Charles Integrated Therapies.
