Local Alert Days: Today and Sunday for gusty winds, mountain snow and a wintry mix

KTVZ

Today will be another Local Alert Day with the region getting snow and rain off and on. Today expect to see gusty winds near 30 mph, not quite as robust as Friday, but still concerning. Batten down the hatches today and Sunday and make sure not to inflate your Halloween decorations as they may be relocated in the gusty environment.

The snow will be mixed with rain today at lower elevations, but the mountains will see several inches. Passes will be compromised by the snow and mix today and Sunday.

Sunday will be the best chance for us to see measurable snow on the high desert. The third wave of this weather event will bring in moisture into the cold air in place from the first two waves. This will allow for a better chance for snow Sunday morning before changing to a wintry mix in the afternoon.

Our Local Alert Days are issued to give you time to prepare for impactful weather.
Stay safe.
