LOCAL ALERT WEATHER DAYS: WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY

KTVZ-TV

Local Alert Weather Days go into effect on Wednesday and Thursday as the region will be getting some "Spring Snow" across the mountains and a wintry mix across the high desert. The snow will begin late Wednesday, and the bulk of the snow will fall overnight into Thursday. This is mainly a mountain snow event, but the roads may be impacted Thursday for your morning commute. Mountain passes may receive around 3 - 5" of snow by then end of Thursday morning. Travel will be slick early Thursday across the region, and the mountains will see the passes compromised by the snow above 4500 feet, and the winds will blow the snow around so visibility may be impacted as well.

The snow will melt on contact with the ground first, so the accumulation process will be slow. Icy conditions under the snow will also be a concern. Snow riders will be happy to get whatever we can, and there may be as much as 8 - 10" or so above 6000 feet.
