Mix of snow and rain possible early & more snow in the mountains on the way
A pleasant Thursday to you, Central Oregon. There’s a chance for a wintry mix of precipitation in the lower elevations early this morning but by early afternoon we will likely see mostly on and off rain with mostly cloudy skies and high temperatures a few degrees warmer than yesterday. No advisories are currently in place but fog and mist could definitely still be a factor in the region, especially early.
Today, there is a possibility for some snowfall along the highway 97 corridor, however, it will be relatively light if at all. We are expecting a decent amount of snow in the cascades during the rest of this week and into the weekend. Today, the snow level is at 3800 feet and rising to 5100 feet in the afternoon.
A Winter Storm Watch has been hoisted for South Central Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades. For Saturday morning through evening due to possible accumulations of 6-12 inches of snow and gusts of wind as high as 35mph. Expect slippery roads and travel safely.
Wind here in Central Oregon today will be out of the Southwest in the 10-15 mph range and picking up by the early afternoon.
Highs will again be in the 40s and overnight lows will be in the 20s primarily, across the High Desert.
