Another icy commute but a possible break from wintry weather

Update: Bend LaPine, Redmond, Crook County, Jefferson and Culver School Districts are closed for the day.

Happy Friday Central Oregon.  Road conditions this morning are tricky and dangerous as freezing rain caused ice accumulations throughout yesterday afternoon and overnight.  Lows stayed chilly and as a result, no melting occurred on area roadways leaving things extremely icy. Secondary roads will again be more difficult today as they typically see less traffic allowing ice to remain in place. For those who live in areas without well cleared roads, please take care getting to a main road this morning.

Chances for rain and freezing rain are less today but still possible early this morning.  Outside of that, we expect cloudy conditions and chilly temperatures.

A winter storm warning is in place in North Central Oregon but set to expire at 4am due to mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations of less than one inch and ice accumulations of a light glaze.

Winds today will go from light and calm to northerly in the range of 5-10mph.  Gusts up to 20 mph will be possible but the wind will be slightly less active than yesterday.

Highs will be in the 20s and 30s and overnight lows will be in the 20s.
