Cooling trend heading into the weekend

Other than some spotty showers the area is on the quiet side today and will remain that way through the weekend.  There is a chance for a bit of a wintry mix early in the day Friday, but once that tapers off around 10 am, the rest of the day will be dry.

There is also some good news for area resorts, we will be looking at a couple of inches of new snow possible by tomorrow morning. Nothing all that impressive, but the well above normal temps will be a thing of the past.

Over the weekend the area is going to be experiencing near normal or even below normal conditions as far as temperatures are concerned. Highs will top out in the low to middle 40s over the weekend under partly cloudy skies.

Moving forward into next week, there is a chance for a stray shower Monday and Tuesday, but nothing widespread is in the cards. Highs will top out near 40 and lows in the upper 20s.  Generally, a quiet pattern for a spell.

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day. Remember, if the Groundhog sees his shadow, it will get scared and run back into the burrow and wait six more weeks before coming out, so six more weeks of winter. If it is cloudy and no shadow is seen, it looks good for an early spring.
