Drying out and warming up

The temperatures in the region have been below normal for several days, but that trend is about to change.  Since last Saturday, the mercury in the thermometer has only reached the middle to low 50s, on Tuesday the 70s return.  It will be a gradual run to the 70s as Saturday and Sunday will still be in the 50s, but 60s on Monday then 70s on Tuesday are on the ledger.  

The other change in the pattern will be the dry air. There has been a chance for light rain and mountain snow all week, but not so over the weekend.  High pressure is building in the region and will have a grip on the Pacific Northwest shortly.  Sunny afternoons and clear nights will be common for several days.

The next chance for measurable rain and mountain snow is not until at least Thursday.  Timing is rough this far out, so it may be late Wednesday, but this dry and quiet pattern is locking in for about five days. There is the chance for a wintry mix of rain and snow late week, but we will sort that out as we get closer to the event.

The mountains are going to see some snow today and a little tonight, but dry and milder air will define the weekend. Enjoy the spring snow riding as there are several resorts that have base amounts over 100 inches.  The long-range model forecasting tools also have cooler air by the end of next week and some more snow is also possible.
