Mild and dry Saturday, rain on the way late Sunday

Mild pattern over the weekend as we see the mercury in the thermometer rise to middle 70s.  There will be some smoky conditions early in the day Saturday near Bend, but for the most part Central Oregon will be partly sunny, dry, and mild.

The big change for the rest of the weekend will be the introduction of moisture to the Pacific Northwest.  Clouds will roll in as the day moves along Sunday and rain is likely on the coast and west face of the Cascades early in the day. The rain will take some time crossing the mountains and I expect to see the showers in Central Oregon begin by early evening or near midnight.

The rain Sunday night will be light and steady overnight providing a good old fashioned soaking scenario.  The amounts will, of course, vary but we will see an average of around 0.25” to 0.50” across the tri-counties.  Sisters, along with Southern Deschutes County will see the totals closer to the half inch amounts.  The rain is expected to continue in the northern portion of the state Monday and into the Blue Mountains, but our region should see an end to the rain by about mid-day Monday.   Due to the rain and the cloud cover, Monday will see highs only in the middle to low 60s.

Once the rain clears, the area will be looking at several days of dry weather and a significant warm up by the end of next week. Some computer models are forecasting temperatures in the upper 80s Thursday and or Friday.  Well out in the future, but if you like a summer pattern, late next week will be a welcomed change.
