Breezy pattern remains, late week heat

The rainfall didn’t make much of an impact east of the Cascade Crest as originally thought, but the winds did arrive. The gusty winds are expected to linger into the night as the region starts to dry out.  There were some reporting stations that measured rain east of the crest, but most were less than a tenth of an inch. Here are some of the higher measurements.

Sisters… 0.24”
SW Bend… 0.19”
Lava Butte… 0.10”
La Pine SP…0.17”
Prineville… 0.14”

The Cascades and west were reporting rainfall totals in the 2 – 3” range. Creeks and streams were seeing rising amounts, but as yet no flooding has been reported.

The rest of the week will be much warmer than the weekend with most models pushing the mercury into the upper 80s and low 90s by the end of the week. Before then I expect middle 70s Tuesday, low and middle 80s Wednesday and Thursday.  The temperatures will spike on Friday and Saturday to near record levels as we hit the 90s on Friday.  Record high in Bend for June 7th is 92°, set in 1926, my forecast has us just short of that at 90°. Saturday's record is only 90°, so that may fall too, as the forecast is calling for 89° at this moment. Of course, that is well out in the forecast so it will be changing, just something to keep an eye on if you like climatology.

Rainfall is not in the forecast this week, other than what may linger tonight. Our dry and warm pattern is not good news as we begin the wildfire season.
