Air quality issues remain, temperatures cooler next week

The fires that continue to burn to our east, north, west and south will be providing smoke to Central Oregon. This will be the case for the next several weeks. The air quality will vary depending on the amount of smoke that gets transported into the region on the winds.  The winds will be variable as far as direction is concerned, but that will not matter much since there are fires all around the Tri-Counties.

What will be changing over the next few days will be the temperature profile. The afternoon highs in the low to middle 90s will be ending and we can look forward to the highs in the low 80s by the start of the new work week.

Rain chances are very low in the near future, but a rogue thunderstorm in the east can’t be ruled out. The chance of thunderstorms is around 20% or less in the Northern and Eastern portions of Oregon, but a stray shower is possible in our tri-counties this weekend.  Not much of a chance, but it is not zero.
