Calm until Thursday, air quality issues extended

KTVZ

Today will be cooler, highs in the upper 70s for many areas. Tomorrow, we will jump back up a few degrees into the 80s again as a weak ridge moves over us for the day. It will only be here a day, and then it continues to move on its path. Lows will be the 40s and 50s.

There were a few pop-up storms overnight last night in Eastern Oregon. Today and tomorrow should be dry, as that ridge moves in and passes through. A few clouds today but we should be mostly sunny tomorrow.

On Thursday, a new low makes its way in off the Pacific. As it does, showers and thunderstorms are possible from Thursday through Sunday. This system will hover overhead for a little. We’ll see temperatures cool a few degrees below normal, many areas dropping into the 70s.

Air quality yesterday got to “very unhealthy” is areas like La Pine and Sunriver. The air Quality Advisory for Deschutes County that was supposed to expire Monday afternoon has since been extended until Wednesday. To stay informed on the most updated alerts, please refer to the banner at the top of the page. A west wind today will help to clear some smoke out, but there are fires still burning along the Cascades so we’ll be getting smoke from those fires today. Air quality today will likely be on the poorer side, but better than yesterday.

Happy Tuesday.
