Breezy pattern remains, cooler pattern returns

The noticeable winds today will continue into the night and through the day tomorrow. Winds will be around 15 – 20 mph off and on with gusts near 30 today and Tuesday, but relax Wednesday. The winds are going to be much more robust through the Columbia River region as well as a few of the mountain passes. This wind is ahead of a cold front that will cross the region early in the day Tuesday.

The cold front will drop the mercury in the thermometer back to the 70s Tuesday and Wednesday and into the 30s in regions above 4000 feet. Wednesday morning will be the coldest day as lows dip near or below freezing in La Pine, Sunriver and Sisters.

This cold snap will be short lives as high pressure moves into the region and sets up for a few days. The result will be a calmer wind profile as well as much warmer conditions. Highs will be back into the 80s Thursday followed by 90s heading into the long holiday weekend.

Not much in the way of precipitation this week, as the cold front has little to now moisture to work with this week.  The highlights this week will be the cold mornings Wednesday and Thursday, followed by the hot weekend ahead.
