A hot holiday weekend ahead
Today is the day we jump into those 90s across the region. We’ll remain hot through the weekend. Today will be dry with plenty of sunshine. Lows tonight will be in the 40s and 50s.
On Saturday, there is a chance for some record-breaking heat. Last record for Bend on August 31st was 95 degrees, set in 1918. It is very possible we break that record tomorrow. Madras has an old record set in 2007 of 97 degrees. It will likely be a close one in Madras, possibly tying the record.
A Heat Advisory has been issued for the Tri-County region for the entire day on Saturday. Please be weather-aware and prepared while you’re out this weekend. Stay safe and refer to the banner at the top of the website for the most updated information.
Sunday will also be in the 90s, but expect more cloud cover later in the day.
We do start to cool down a little for Labor Day, back into the 80s. An area of low pressure that is currently offshore is approaching and as it arrives early next week, it’ll help to break the string of high heat. There is a slight chance of a stray shower or two Monday evening. It looks as if the better chance of seeing rain will be to the south and the northeast that day. So, it doesn’t appear any plans will get rained out but keep it in mind, more so if you’re planning on doing any traveling.
Happy Friday, have a great holiday weekend!
