Cool and rainy today, air quality slightly improved

The rain will help with firefighting efforts, moisture in the air and falling to the ground is very beneficial.  Remember, the rain will not extinguish the wildfires, but it will help with suppression efforts and slow the growth.  Fire behavior slows with the cooler conditions as well so we have a few good days for the fire crews to get the upper hand on the multiple wildfires in the region.

The air quality has not improved as much as anticipated as there are just too many origins of the smoke in the region.  Something else to note, the wet fuel is still dry enough to burn, but will produce much more smoke when ignited.

The rain is expected to be off and on through tomorrow morning, tapering off by noon.  The cooler pattern is now in place as highs today will be in the upper 50s to low 60s. Thursday will see slightly warmer conditions, but still only see the mercury rise to the low to upper 60s.

Heading into the weekend we will experience some dry and mild weather with mostly sunny skies and temps in the 70s. Friday and Saturday will see temps in the 70s.

Sunday will see some clouds move in and there may be a stray shower in the afternoon. Highs will be slightly cooler, in the upper 60s.

Cooler and cloudy conditions are likely next week as highs hover around the middle 60s.  As mentioned above, the cooler weather will aid in the suppression of the numerous wildfires in the area.
