Cool pattern remains, rain slated for Sunday

The fall-like pattern is here for the weekend as the mercury in the thermometer is expected to be in the 70s on Saturday. There will be a mixture of clouds and sun Saturday with the clouds moving in later in the day.  The winds will be generally from the north and northwest, a much favorable flow of air with respect to air quality as there are far less fires north than any other direction at the moment.

Enjoy the dry day Saturday as the clouds return on Sunday along with a slight chance for some rain. An area of low pressure is east of the region and may be able to tap into some moisture late in the day and provide a few sprinkles to Central Oregon.  Not much rain, but much cooler air will be present as the flow arrives from the northeast. Highs Sunday will be in the low 60s and upper 50s.

Monday will provide us with plenty of cloud cover and a slight chance for some rain. I would classify Monday as an in between day, but still on the chilly side. The better chance for more widespread rain is Tuesday and possibly Wednesday. Another low develops to the south of us Tuesday and more moisture is introduced from the west, so rain is expected.

Lingering rain Wednesday and temperatures stay in the 60s for highs. Drying out Thursday and low 70s for highs.

The fires have been kept in check over the past couple of days due to the cooler conditions and high moisture content of the air. Smoke is still being generated by most fires, with the Flat Top and Firestone in Lake and So. Deschutes Counties being the hottest/smokiest.

Enjoy the weekend.
