Dry and warm today, cooler conditions Sunday
We are on the western edge of an area of high pressure that is in just the correct position to usher warmer than normal air into the area. The temperatures will be in the middle to upper 80s today as the high maintains a grip on the western United States, but is drifting east.
The temperatures change dramatically on Sunday as the mercury in the thermometer will only reach the upper 60s to low 70s. A dry cold front will push through Oregon overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, cooling the area. We will not see much in the way of rain so,
although we will have a significant cool down, the region stays dry.
Monday looks to be similar to Sunday as high temperatures remain near 70 under mostly sunny skies. Due to the clear skies overnight, the morning lows will be in the 30s Monday and Tuesday.
Warmer weather is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday as we continue the variability of cool to mild conditions into the middle of the week. The only constant will be the dry nature of the skies.
Expect to see mostly sunny and dry weather this week, even though we are dealing with temperature variations and weak cold fronts. Each of the cold fronts that move through will be “moisture starved” meaning dry frontal passages.
The area is still very dry and that translates to a high fire danger. Please be mindful of your campfires, cigarette butts or anything else that make start a wildfire. The wildfire season is winding down, but the fire threat is still high.
