September ends cold, October starts out warm, but expect up and down temperature readings this week

Our last morning of September was below normal with lows in the teens and low 20s in southern Deschutes County near sunrise. Sisters reported temps in the low 20s and Madras and Prineville were in the low 20s to upper 20s.  Lows in Bend were in the upper 20s and low 30s as well as Redmond bottomed out in the middle to upper 20s. Normal lows in Bend are the upper 30s.  Expect another crisp night ahead with lows in the upper 30s in Bend and Redmond, the upper 20s in Sisters and La Pine.

There is very little moisture to work with in the region over the next several days, therefore the forecast will mainly be about the temperatures.  Tuesday will be a dry day but a brief spike in the temperature readings will occur as we hit the low to middle 80s for one day.  This will happen as the northern edge of a ridge of high pressure arrives from the south.  The ridge quickly retreats south of flattens over the area and we dip back to the 70s Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday brings us the 80s once again as the ridge builds east and south of Oregon, but provides us with some warmer conditions. Some clouds arrive late Friday but not until we hit the 80s. A few clouds remain Saturday and the temps dip a couple of degrees but for the most part a quiet and dry pattern will linger into the beginning of the new work week.
