Rain begins tonight and temperatures drop tomorrow
Today will be mild, temperature wise. Highs will top out in the low 70s. Clouds will roll in through the late afternoon and evening time ahead of rain that is expected to begin as we head into the night.
A low pressure system is moving in today and will be deepening over the next few days. With it, some moisture to fuel showers, and cool arctic air. Temperatures will drop tomorrow below normal, into the 50s. We’ll see 50s for the rest of the work week, with some areas even dropping below. Time to pull those jackets out of retirement.
Two cold fronts, one this morning and one tomorrow will contribute to some breezy afternoons and also help to really drop our temps. Lows tonight will be in the 30s and 40 but by tomorrow, lows will be dropping to freezing and below freezing for a few days.
Due to the rain expected over the next few days and the freezing temps, you might see a bit of frost on your grass or cars. Starting tomorrow morning, make sure you have a few extra minutes before you leave for work to run the heat in your car. Fog is also likely over the next few mornings, especially through the mountain passes.
The Cascades are expected to get some snow Wednesday night into Thursday afternoon. I don’t think we’ll see a lot of accumulation, buts roads will be slick and driving conditions subpar. Be safe. It’s possible Central Oregon also sees some flurries on Thursday. Areas like La Pine and Sunriver will have the best chance but I’m not expecting anything to stick. Â
We’ll see about a tenth of an inch or less each day, but any rain is good rain for us. Skies should see some smoke clearing by tomorrow with this new pattern.
Happy Tuesday! Keep an eye out for the pumpkin in my forecast through the end of the month.
