Clouds, light rain and mountain snow exit, dry and milder pattern ahead

Tuesday will be the last day in a string of breezy and crisp afternoons under mostly cloudy skies. Expect to see a new pattern emerge as a ridge of high pressure builds into the region from the west.

The temperatures will be significantly colder tonight as the skies clear and the any heat from the day radiates into the dark sky.  Often times, when clouds exist overnight, they act as a blanket to keep the heat in that was gained during the daylight hours. When the skies clear and there are no clouds, the heat rises off into the clear night sky. That will be the cast tonight as the mercury in the thermometer drops to the teens and 20s.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and cool with highs in the upper 40s and some low 50s.  Winds relax and the region will be only a few degrees below normal, which is around 55 degrees. Clear and crisp again into Thursday with lows in the 20s and teens again.

Thursday will be breezy and dry as afternoon temps reach the middle 50s. Winds will be from the southeast most of the time, but will vary during the afternoon sun.

Friday will be the warmest day of the week as highs reach the low 60s. This warm pattern will be short lived as clouds arrive late in the day ahead of the rain that is expected on Saturday. The rain and mountain snow will be off and on into the beginning of next week. The best chance for widespread rain along 97 will be on Monday. Temperatures will be mild enough to support all rain in the high desert.
