Windy and rainy today

Highs today will be in the 40s and 50s, once again. We’ve had a couple gusty days in a row now but today will be “windy.” Gusts this morning are near 30mph and could reach up to 40-45mph by this afternoon. Be careful of blowing debris. Wind, mixed with the rain today, will make today feel chilly. Lows tonight will be in the 20s and 30s.

We are expecting a rainy day today. Most of the rain will fall over Deschutes County, and most of it during the first half of the day. There is a chance for half an inch or more to fall in these areas. With all the leaves that have fallen to the ground, there is a slight chance for some urban flooding today.

Rain will become off and on into the evening and then spotty overnight. Thursday will have some light, spotty showers lingering through the day before we dry out heading into the weekend.

Mt. Bachelor is expecting anywhere from 5-9 inches of fresh snow by Friday morning. A strong southerly wind caused by a passing warm front this morning will limit that snowfall, and we will probably end up on the lower end of that range. Most of the snow will fall at higher mountain elevations rather than pass level.

A cold front will follow behind the warm front, strengthening our windy and wet pattern.

Drier air moves in for Friday and Saturday before another cold front swings in and triggers more rain and snow Sunday.
