Windy and wintry pattern as rain and mountain snow continues

The winds have been the most noticeable feature as gusts near 40 mph have been common over the area.  The rain is persistent and relatively light but a few pockets of moderate rain overnight led to impressive rainfall amounts in the 0.50” range by noon. Rain will continue most of the day, off and on and add to the totals.

The mountains did get some heavy snow, but mainly above the 5500 foot level. Mountain passes look to be wet and the fear of some icy conditions overnight is on the table. The lower elevated locations may see some slick spots due to patch ice as well, but generally the Sisters and La Pine areas.

Thursday will see some lingering showers as the rain and snow taper off as the day progresses.  Look for highs to be in the middle to upper 40s with a locations hitting the low 50s (Madras, Redmond).

Friday will be a crisp and dry day as high pressure takes over and clears the region. Expect to see plenty of sunshine but not much of a warm up. In fact, the temps will be much cooler after the skies clear. Cold air will migrate in from the north and northeast as the low exits.  Friday will be looking at highs in the low to middle 40s.

More of the same Saturday but the sunny skies will yield to some cloud cover late in the day. The clouds are out ahead of another round of rain and mountain snow. The rain will be persistent through the day with some break in the activity. Overnight into Monday there maybe some icy roads and a dusting of snow on the grassy areas.
