Snow possible overnight, drying out and chilly pattern ahead
The storm complex that has been drifting off the coast for the past several days still has another round of snow left. The last in a series of disturbances will push through the region overnight and into Tuesday morning will provide a couple of inches of snow south of Lava Butte and along the east face of the Cascades including Sisters. This will make travel a bit tricky for the morning commute Tuesday. Allow some extra time to get to your destination tomorrow, cleaning off your vehicle and getting ready to drive may take a few minutes too.
The snow will end by around 10am or so, but the roads will still be slick. Highs Tuesday will be in the low 40s so melting is not going to occur too quickly. Friction from tires and the treated roads will clear by noon, but some back roads may still be covered and or slick. Then we dry out.
Starting Tuesday afternoon and through the holiday weekend we are not expecting anything other than clear and dry conditions. Temperatures each afternoon will be in the 40s with plenty of sunshine, and in the teens and low 20s overnight under mostly clear skies.
Thanksgiving holiday will be dry and cold with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s. If you are planning to travel across the Great State of Oregon, the weather condition should not be an issue. Mountain passes will be cleared and the only challenge to the weather forecast is nailing down the high and low temps.
Please stay safe when traveling this week.
