Snow is moving in this morning and will continue steadily through the first part of the day. Snow will then become scattered through the afternoon. An upper low pressure, or "trough", with an incoming surface low and occluded front will bring winter weather to the entire state.

A Winter Weather Advisory is active until Friday for the Tri-County area. Plan for 2-4” in the high desert and between 6-10” along the Cascades by the end of the day today.

Alerts, however, span across the entire state. Winter Weather Advisories are out for much of Oregon, while southeastern Oregon in under a Warning. The Portland area is also under a Winter Storm Warning and areas from Salem to Eugene are under an Ice Storm Warning. If you are planning travel across the state, be careful and pack a winter car kit.

The Cold Weather Advisory remains active for Central Oregon until 7am today, so make sure you’re bundled up this morning before leaving the house.

On Friday, you can plan for spotty snow and wintry mix, with most of the snow falling along the mountains. Snow will taper off into the evening, so your Valentine’s Day dinner plans should remain dry.

Snow and rain will continue off and on into early next week.

Happy Thursday! Have a nice day today.
