Wet, winter weather returns overnight tonight and stays through the week
Daylight hours today will be dry and partly to mostly cloudy. Clouds will increase into the evening ahead of the upcoming wintry pattern. We’ll see enough sunlight today before the next system moves in to heat us up to the low to mid 50s. Winds will gust around 15-20mph. Lows tonight will drop into the 30s.
A wintry mix will start after the sun goes down, in the overnight hours tonight. It will be light and scattered. An upper level low and surface low are coming in as a double header to bring widespread showers by Wednesday afternoon. As these systems move in, most of our precipitation will be rain. With our temperatures being in the 40s and 50s, and the sun setting an hour later, it’ll be hard to accumulate any snow at first. La Pine and Sunriver will have slightly better chances at seeing some snow overnight Wednesday, but again, very little.
There is a Winter Weather Advisory out for the Cascades, the eastern slopes, and areas south of Bend from Wednesday evening to Thursday night. The mountains will pick up between 5-10” during this time frame while the biggest concern for areas in Central Oregon will be icy or slick roads. Little snow accumulation is expected.
Rain and snow will continue off and on through the weekend. We could see better chances at accumulating some snow by the end of the week, but don’t plan for it to stick around a long time. Temperatures are hovering the 40s and 50s the majority of the week with higher elevations dipping into the upper 30s at times.
Happy Tuesday. Have a good day!
