Heavy mountain snow and a high desert mix prompt a Winter Storm Warning
Highs today are cooling into the upper 30s to mid 40s. Winds will be breezy, gusting around 12-25mph through the day, making it feel a little cooler.
Plan for spotty snow and mixed showers through the day. They’ll be very light and short-lived, not sticking for most but maybe adding a light dusting to some yards.
We should see a partial clearing into the second half of the day, but by tomorrow morning, another surface system will sweep through and bring snow showers early in the morning. Scattered mixed showers will fall through the afternoon, behind the system.
Winter weather alerts are out for the next few days. The advisory has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning for the Cascades, eastern slopes, and areas south of Bend until 11pm tonight. Heavier snow is expected across the Cascades while the high desert will see little. Plan for slick and icy roads locally, and difficult travel through the passes. Heavy snow and gusty winds will create visibility issues.

A Winter Storm Watch is out for the same areas listed above for the Friday morning to Saturday night time frame. The NWS will likely upgrade this as we get closer to that time. Plan for heavy mountain snow and travel impacts.
Your holiday weekend will be a soggy one, with periods of rain and snow. Sunday looks like the wettest day, with consistent mixed showers. Most will see a mix during the day, but snow in the higher elevations and/or in the early morning and late night hours is likely.
Happy Thursday. Have a good day and be safe!
